About
Sitatunga Private Island
Sitatunga Private Island, designed by Dereck Joubert and with interiors by Beverly Joubert, is a luxurious Réserve-Collection safari camp nestled deep within Botswana's Okavango Delta. This unique retreat is entirely surrounded by water, offering an immersive aquatic safari experience. The camp's design, inspired by "Robinson Crusoe" and local Okavango fishing ancestries, features thick pole woodwork reminiscent of salvaged sailing masts, giant basket shapes, and environmentally friendly bamboo structures. The interior boasts a serene blue theme with vintage Persian carpets, blue trade bead curtains, and soft flowing silk and linen. Guests can relax in two expansive, tree-canopy suites, enjoying breathtaking views over the lagoon and delta waters. Each suite is equipped with a private indoor lounge, double vanity bathroom, indoor shower, outdoor sala, and plunge pool, along with complimentary professional camera and lens sets and high-quality binoculars. The camp offers unparalleled opportunities to observe rare sitatunga antelope from the camp and by boat, which is the primary activity. Other wildlife encounters include viewing elephants, crocodiles, and hippos by boat, with the added option of guided walking safaris. The culinary experience, personally curated by the executive chef, pays homage to Botswana's river people. Sitatunga Private Island provides an extraordinary blend of luxury, unique design, and intimate wildlife encounters in one of Africa's most pristine wildernesses, making it a perfect destination for discerning travelers seeking an authentic and exclusive safari.
